About This Course

The vagus nerve is one of the body’s most important communication pathways, carrying information between the brain and many of the major organs. It plays a meaningful role in nervous-system regulation, internal body awareness, digestion, heart rate, breathing, emotional well-being, and our ability to move between states of stress, rest, and connection.

Our Vagus Nerve Self Care Workshop is designed for anyone who wants to better understand this remarkable mind–body connection. It offers a flexible alternative for those who are unable to attend the in-person workshop, allowing you to explore the material from the comfort of home and progress through each lesson at your own pace.

Led by Dawn Sharman, RMT, DMOT, RCST, the course presents anatomy and nervous-system concepts in clear, approachable language. Through three focused video sessions, you’ll learn about the vagus nerve’s pathway and functions, how it communicates information between the organs and the brain, and how it interacts with the fascia and other systems throughout the body.

The course also explores interoception—sometimes described as the body’s “eighth sense.” Interoception is our ability to notice and interpret internal signals, such as changes in breathing, heartbeat, temperature, tension, hunger, and emotional state. Developing this awareness can help us recognize how the nervous system is responding and become more attentive to the body’s needs.

As you progress, you’ll be introduced to practical vagus nerve stimulators and simple activities that may help support healthy vagal tone. You’ll explore the importance of safety, connection, and mindful body awareness while developing practical tools that can be incorporated into everyday life.
